Research

The research activity of the CMC team is mainly focused on the development of innovative synthetic tools. The driving force of our projects is the (stereo)selective synthesis of original building-blocks that can be of interest in medicinal chemistry or material science.

Particularly, molecular diversity is targeted through the synthesis and/or functionalization of diverse heterocycles and strained cycles. A special attention is dedicated to the design of sustainable reactions to access these high-added value molecules. To fulfill this objective, priority is given to catalytic processes and, when possible, earth-abundant metal catalysts are favored.

In addition, a more recent interest is devoted to homogeneous and heterogeneous photocatalysis using visible-light. The development of such methods will be strongly correlated to continuous-flow chemistry, which constitutes another axis of research in our group.
